Patent leverages date, time and location information to enhance the relevancy of mobile advertisements and custom media creation through location/event-centric, media templates (geofilters) and stickers.
AUSTIN, Texas – Feb. 6, 2020 – PRLog — PicPocket-Labs (“PicPocket”) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded Patent No. 10,574,614 for “Geofencing of Obvious Geographic Locations and Events”; corresponding system claims have been filed under the title “Systems and Networks to Aggregate Photo Content for Heuristic Ad Targeting.” Both are continuations-in-part of US Patent No. 9,544,379 “Systems and Methods for Event Networking and Media Creation” (2009.)
According to Urban Dictionary, geofilters are “location-based image filters that can be accessed only from certain places and added as a graphic overlay to a photo or video.”
Patent 10,574,614 pertains to the creation, use and sharing of custom media templates to enhance photos and videos taken while attending specific, live-events or which meet certain geographic and temporal criteria – media templates which enable eventgoers to advertise/highlight their participation at these same events, and which brands and sponsors can use to target eventgoers with highly relevant advertisements, information, coupons, deals and the like.
“We all know what “selfies” are; they’ve become the single greatest form of self-expression to happen to social media. Taking photos of ourselves to mark occasions or to memorialize visits with special people and favorite places – they’ve been our way of showing our friends and followers all the cool people we know and places we’ve been. As selfies have become commonplace, the use of geofilters (and geostickers) have helped to personalize the most shared of our photo keepsakes” explains Wolfram Gauglitz, President and CEO of PicPocket-Labs, Inc. “Being able to prove that you were at Super Bowl LIV in Miami, somewhere in the middle of the Nevada desert at Burning Man 2020 and the World Cup Final in Doha… there are definite bragging rights that go along with making the short-list at exclusive events and venues – and geolocation and tagging via geo -filters and -stickers is a creative and public way to mark ourselves present.”
PicPocket will integrate both “geo” -stickers and -filters throughout its namesake PicPocket app – notably, in both its My Story and its patent-pending, Event Stories features (products which allow users to create video mashups of event content with embedded mp3, video or audio commentary.) This same patented geofilter technology also holds significant potential for home/building/infrastructure inspection, digital real-estate marketing, processing virtual claims and underwriting and aiding first-responders – each of which will be trialed with strategic, customer partners as the company continues to build out its Enterprise business.
PicPocket-Labs, Inc. is an early pioneer in geofencing and location-based IT solutions with offices in Austin and Dallas, TX. The company is actively exploring strategic, customer partnerships for both its Consumer, live-events app and in select Enterprise markets – specific emphasis on live-events venues and professional sports organizations, property and casualty insurers, agricultural applications, home/building/infrastructure inspection and first-responder networks.
